Tell me a story.

We love saying that, and hearing that. Who doesn't love a story of adventure, intrigue, or mystery?

We have always told stories. When we learned language, we told them orally. When we learned to write, we wrote them down. And when we learned new forms of communications, we used those to tell stories.

Every day brings a new story. And every day contributes to the story of story telling.

I am starting a new feature that will look back and show how every day of the year adds to the art of story telling in all its forms -- in prose and poetry, in music, on the stage, on the screen, and, of course, in books.

So learn a little of history about those who tell the stories, how they tell them, and where.
